Built for institutional settlement

Familiar guarantees, made precise.

Treasurers and regulators expect the same things from cross-border settlement that bank rails provide domestically. Hundi delivers them on a digital corridor.

01 — Atomic settlement

Both legs commit, or neither does.

XRPL Smart Escrow with cryptographic conditions. The dollar leg and the rupee leg settle in a single, indivisible event. No Herstatt risk. No funds in flight.

3–5sfinality

02 — Predictable economics

All-in pricing, no hidden FX margin.

Every quote shows the spread. Every settlement is mid-market plus a transparent fee. Volume tiers from 150 bps down to 100 bps. No correspondent lifts. No reconciliation tax.

100–150bps blended

03 — Compliant by design

FATF Travel Rule, IVMS101, on-chain ACL.

DIDs, sanctions screening, Travel Rule packets, and XLS-70 on-chain ACL credentials run at the protocol level on every transaction. Beneficiary wallets opt in via DepositAuth; non-credentialed counterparties are rejected before any funds move. Five sanctions lists, real-time. Observer-node visibility for ADGM and RBI.

What changes

Before, and after.

Correspondent banking today

Three banks, two days, hidden margin.

  • Trade-based FX. Each correspondent applies its own spread; the customer never sees the breakdown.
  • 1–3 day settlement. Funds in flight, Herstatt risk, working capital tied up.
  • Fragmented compliance. Each bank screens independently; gaps are common at the edges.
  • Reactive reporting. Regulators see flows T+1 to T+30, after the fact.
  • Manual reconciliation. Finance teams reconcile bank statements daily, by hand.

With Hundi

One venue, seconds, transparent.

  • Mid-market plus published spread. Every quote shows the rate, the spread, and the all-in cost.
  • 3–5 second finality. Atomic Smart Escrow on XRPL. No counterparty risk during settlement.
  • Unified screen at the venue. FATF Travel Rule, DIDs, five sanctions lists, all in one transaction.
  • Real-time observer nodes. ADGM and RBI see every transaction as it settles.
  • Books match daily, automatically. Immutable on-chain audit trail. Ten-year retention.

The corridor

Imagine if you had to sell Wells Fargo dollars to buy Bank of America dollars.

The same logic governs cross-currency settlement. A dollar moving from a UAE exchange house to a Mumbai bank should not require three intermediary banks, two FX spreads, and a 48-hour float. The technology to settle it atomically has existed since CLS Group launched in 2002 for G10 currencies.

Gulf–India is the largest corridor in the world without a native institutional digital settlement layer. $280 billion in annual trade and remittance flows, 0 purpose-built venues. Hundi is the venue.

How it works

Quote to settled, in five seconds.

Off-chain matching for speed. On-chain settlement for finality. Compliance enforced at the protocol, not patched on at the edges.

  1. 01 — Quote

Best of N market makers, in under 100 ms.

Customer requests USD→INR; matching engine streams quotes from connected market makers, applies risk gates, returns the best price with full spread transparency. Customer accepts.

    T+0 to T+0.1s

  2. 02 — Atomic settlement

    RLUSD and ARC swap, indivisibly.

Smart Escrow on XRPL holds both legs. Travel Rule packet and ZK compliance proof are part of the transaction. Cryptographic condition release commits both legs in a single ledger close.

    T+0.1 to T+5s

  3. 03 — Receipt and audit

    Audit-grade proof, immediately.

Settlement record on-chain. Customer receives signed proof. Regulator sees the transaction in their observer-node feed. Reconciliation entry written automatically to the customer’s ERP.

Frequently asked

Questions, answered.

What does Hundi actually do?

Hundi is a regulated cross-border settlement venue for the Gulf–India corridor. We connect banks, exchange houses, and corporate treasuries who need to move money between USD and INR (and increasingly other Gulf currencies and INR), settling the transaction atomically on XRPL Permissioned Domains using RLUSD and ARC as the on-chain settlement assets.

Customers get sub-five-second finality at 100–150 bps blended cost, versus 1–3 days at 4–7% with traditional correspondent banking.

Is this crypto?

No, in the sense that customers think of crypto. Hundi uses regulated stablecoins (RLUSD issued by Ripple, custodied by BNY Mellon, NYDFS-approved; ARC issued by Anq Labs, RBI-aligned, backed by Indian government securities) as digital claims on real currencies held at regulated banks. There is no speculation, no token, no retail exposure, no DeFi pools.

The same architectural category as JP Morgan Kinexys ($2B+ daily) and CLS Group ($5T daily). Tokenized institutional settlement, not crypto trading.

What if RLUSD or ARC fails?

Both stablecoins are 1:1 reserved with regulated custodians and publish daily attestations. RLUSD reserves are held at BNY Mellon and consist of short-duration US Treasuries plus insured cash. ARC reserves are 100% Indian government securities held in regulated escrow.

Hundi’s architecture supports multiple stablecoin pairs — if regulatory or operational reasons require it, we can route via USDC, USDP, or other approved alternatives without re-architecting the core settlement layer.

Who are you regulated by?

Hundi operates through three legal entities: Hundi Network Pte. Ltd. (Singapore HoldCo, MAS-jurisdiction), Hundi Network UAE Ltd. (ADGM, in formation, FSRA Innovation Test Licence), and Hundi Network India Pvt. Ltd. (Bengaluru, RBI-aligned via the Anq Labs framework).

RBI and ADGM observer-node access is part of the platform from day one. SAMA engagement is planned for Phase 2 corridor expansion.

When are you live?

First production transactions with launch partner banks are scheduled for Q3 2026. We are currently in private engagement with two Tier-1 Indian banks and three GCC exchange houses for the launch cohort.

Join the waitlist to be notified when onboarding opens to the next cohort.

How is this different from Better Money?

Better Money is solving stablecoin fungibility within the US dollar zone — making USDC, PYUSD, USDP, FDUSD, RLUSD, and other GENIUS Act-compliant stablecoins interchangeable for US-domestic payment use cases. They’re a clearinghouse for US-dollar stablecoins.

Hundi is solving cross-border atomic settlement between US dollars and Indian rupees — a structurally different problem requiring corridor-specific licensing (ADGM, RBI), different compliance architecture (FATF Travel Rule with IVMS101, jurisdictional DIDs), and different operating partners (Ripple’s RLUSD, Anq Labs’ ARC). Better Money’s existence makes our category more defensible, not less. The two are complementary — cross-border flows naturally route through both.

What stops a non-credentialed counterparty from receiving funds?

The XRPL protocol does, before any Hundi code runs. Every Hundi settlement uses XLS-70 DepositAuth + Credentials: the destination wallet must (a) flip the asfDepositAuth flag, and (b) record a DepositPreauth entry for the Hundi admin issuer and the HUNDI_KYC_VERIFIED credential type. Without both, rippled rejects the EscrowFinish with tecNO_PERMISSION at protocol level — funds physically cannot move to an uncredentialed destination.

The Hundi settlement worker pre-flights every destination before locking funds, so non-credentialed counterparties are rejected before EscrowCreate (funds never leave the source wallet). The mode is one of off / grace / required, with an ISO 8601 grace cutover for onboarding new counterparties. Production runs required; grace is one Terraform line for a controlled 60-day window. Settlement testnet verified 2026-05-13; production cutover 2026-05-14.

Trust, encoded.
